In the lead up to the election this year I had the pleasure of working with the Australian Koala Foundation (Save the Koala). I was tasked with adopting their established character Urban the Koala and creating a new friend for him – Matilda the Donkey.
The AKF took the real Matilda on a journey through Australia to drum up support for politicians to sign off on the Koala Protection Act. If they didn’t, then the AKF asked Koala lovers to do a donkey vote and therefore not vote for anyone. Please see Vote1Matilda website for more information.
I created four illustrations that complimented different moments of Urban and Matilda’s journey together on their campaign. The AKF CEO, Deborah Tabart OAM (the ‘Koala Woman’) provided the following testimonial for me:
“AKF is delighted to be working with Edd Cross and his delightful cartoons. We know that Matilda and Urban are going to Save the Koala!”
I can’t wait to be working again in the future with the AKF!
