This month was super exciting as I created a very cute green turtle hatchling illustration for the Great Barrier Reef Foundation. The illustration was then printed on to 2000 (yes 2000!) tote bags to be handed out at World Science Fair in Brisbane. Kids were able to colour them in at the GBRF marquee and have a bag for life promoting conservation, especially with a plastic bag ban coming in on 1st July. It was a pleasure seeing so many people (kids and adults) excited about the bags, and encouraging that they ran out on the second day!
Just how am I going to fit this in to my portfolio?
As it is Easter at the end of March (well, 1st of April) I would also like to share with you my Easter image for this year. As most things center around Easter eggs, I decided to choose our very adorable platypus as they are the only egg laying mammal, and that should be celebrated!
So first of all I produced some sketches to understand their shapes and colour, and I really like these:
And then this developed into a cartoon platypus painting an Easter egg! Here is my original drawing:
And then the final piece:
As always, I love joining my social drawing groups, and here are a selection of photos of what I have been creating at each..
At Raw Art I did Paint and Plonk Landscapes and a Social Sketch Night of Life Drawing. Such fun:
At the Brisbane Painting and Drawing Meetup Group we had a lovely morning at Orleigh Park:
And to end my post here are a selection of sketches from the Ace Comics Drawing Group in Annerley and Drink & Draw group that meet in Brisbane.
Have a lovely Easter everyone,
