The Great Oz Eddventure #86 – The Bowerbird’s Bower

A couple of weeks ago Hazel found a Satin Bowerbird’s bower at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.  I couldn’t wait to see it for myself and so was excited when Hazel showed me it at the beginning of this week.  It is such an amazing construction by the bird, and what is even more amazing is the fact that Bowerbirds have ther own ‘treasury’of items that they decorate their bowers with, and the Satin Bowerbirds collect blue items.  In this bower the bird had collected bottle tops and even a clothes peg, all in an aid to attract a female mate!  Remarkable!!
