Further to Saturday’s post of my long necked turtle eating pizza from July’s meetup of the Ace Comics drawing group, here are the rest of my sketches from the day. Some of my koala characters and random people who where at the comic book store to play games for the day. Also I am designing a tree for my August merchandise – stay tuned for more!!
Groot with Koala
As soon as I saw Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy at the Marvel Creating the Cinematic Universe at GOMA, Brisbane, I knew I needed to create this picture.
Groot, being a tree, just had to have a koala on him! And in such a great pose, my little koala just fitted perfectly hugging his arm.
Cute or what? Maybe Groot could be the Guardian of the Koalas?
Brisbane Painting & Drawing Meetup Group – March Meet Up at Moora Park
It’s that awesome time of the month again when I join the Brisbane Painting and Drawing Meetup Group for a social and fun arty get together. Last weekend on Sunday we were at Moora Park in Shorncliffe enjoying the fresh air, sounds of the waves hitting the shore, and in some great company.
In the morning I sketched a couple of palm trees, some people, an ibis and a few characters that are rummaging around in the back of my mind.
It’s always greatly inspiring to see the diverse range of creativity amongst everyone else who goes and also to see other parts of Brisbane I have yet been to.
In April, I will be arranging the meetup and it will be meeting at the Maritime Museum on Southbank.
For full details of the group and to sign up to attend please visit the website here…
“Welcome to the Wetsundays”
Just after New Years we went on a trip to the Whitsundays. The guy who drove the shuttle bus from the airport said “Welcome to the Wetsundays’! Because obviously it rains a lot haha!
Little Tree Sketch
And here is a nice little tree sketch. I must say I quite like this one – do you?
Leaf Litter Sketch
Here is something a little bit different for my tree theme this week – Leaf Litter! I think every aspect of the bush needs to be appreciated and enjoyed, and so I took a few minutes in my walk to take in the carpet of leaves on the ground.
Palm Tree Sketch
Continuing my tree theme this week… here is a tiny palm tree sketch from my lunchtime walk in Whites Hill Reserve.
Ok, so my last two posts featured trees, so I am going to continue this little theme for the rest of the week and show some tree sketches… This is a quick sketch from my lunchtime walk in Whites Hill Reserve.
Sketching Trees at Whites Hill Reserve
Just going back through my sketchbook from December I found a couple of sketches I haven’t posted yet fro my lunchtime walks at Whites Hill Reserve in Brisbane.
This is the first one of a little rectangular panel of the tree lined landscape. This was a nice 5 minute challenge trying to put enough lines down to get a sense of depth. There are so many shapes and textures in nature wouldn’t it be great to spend a whole day sketching them?
