My third picture from Sundays Painting and Drawing Meetup Group in Brisbane was of the face of a lion statue in King George Square. I just wanted to capture the face on one page. The eyes proved a challenge as there was quite a lot going on with light and shape to work out. It was even more fitting that the Winter Festival was playing music from The Lion King in the background haha.
Here’s my second sketch from yesterdays Brisbane Painting and Drawing Meetup group. It was a of the awesome sculpture half way up City Hall. Lots of details and light to take into consideration.
Today was the July Meetup for the Brisbane Painting and Drawing group and it was held at King George Sq in the City.
As I was waiting for others to arrive I drew this picture of one of the soldiers on horseback statue. Normally I am quickly drawing people and animals as they pass me by, so it was nice to concentrate on a stationary object and put a little bit more time into it…
Ill post the next two pictures on Monday and Tuesday so please come back to have a look. And please also come along to the next meetup in August 🙂
Tomorrow is the next meetup for the Brisbane Painting and Drawing group. I’m the organiser for this month and have decided to hold it at King George Square so we can sketch away at the Winter Festival of all the ice skaters and a touch of winter in sunny Brisbane!

Across the hall from me there was a sketch of, Dan Vs Dan style, with excellent illustrators Dan Watts and Dan Gilmore.
My table buddy Liam Anthony, creator of Dampman comic whos superpower is being moist!! It was great to chat with Liam as he is also a fellow metal-head and is a drummer in a couple of Brisbane bands.
And the cup of tea drinking comic creator Brad Daniels who is well known for creating the Brisbane comic anthologies Groovy Gravy.
Here’s a selection of photos of my table from yesterday’s Comic Marketplace event at Garden City Library in Brisbane.
I thought I’d draw some Ringo and Koalas on the back of business cards, some of my awesome t-shirts, cute greeting cards and Ringo mini comics.
Did you visit the event yesterday?
… And here’s a photo of my table from today’s Comic Marketplace event at Garden City Library in Brisbane.
It was a really nice morning… sold a few things and networked with some awesome creatives.
Instead of writing one big blog post about it I will break it down and write a bout a few different things over the next few days… so please come back to have a read.. 🙂
Tomorrow is the Comic Marketplace at Garden City Library in Brisbane from 9am and I can’t wait. I have a table to present my Ringo the Ringtail Possum mini comics, koala greeting cards and a couple of t-shirts.
It should be a great morning networking with fellow creatives and meeting the awesome public coming in to see all the local talented artists.
Today I have just updated my info mini stand so I can display at a glance who I am and what I do – those cute little Australian wildlife character illustrations!
Ringo the Ringtail Possum Mini Comic
Ready for the Comic Marketplace at Garden City Library on Saturday in Brisbane are my two mini comics featuring my very cute character Ringo the Ringtail Possum.
We have Ringo and Roobot where Ringo has a toy kangaroo that comes to life, and Life on the Line showing the hardships a possum goes through by living on a telephone line.
