Brisbane Open House – The Print Bar

On Saturday I visited The Print Bar as part of the Brisbane Open Home weekend.  The Print Bar is an online print on demand service that can print your designs on to t-shirts, tote bags, tea towels etc. so I thought it would be interesting to have a look around as I have a selection of designs available on similar merchandise too to see how the printing is done.

As you can see from the pictures, The Print Bar has quite a range of machinery to cater for the variety of designs and volumes of orders.  They covered the whole process from creating the plates for screen printing through to laying on the colours to create the designs on the clothing.  For medium sized orders they do the whole process by hand, for large orders they use a monster piece of equipment that was in the far end of the room, and for small runs of print they digitally print individual items in a special printer.

I must say they were very generous with this free tour as they also allowed each of us to do our own screen printing of a tote bag, tea towel and a t-shirt to take away with us.  Great day out.  Great local business.
