Australian Koala Foundation – Cartoon Update
Today I headed over to the Australian Koala Foundation and met up again with Deborah Tabart and her team. It was greatly inspiring to learn all about their goals for the next few years and how they would like to continue using my cartoons to enhance their campaigns.
So keep tuned as I will be producing monthly cartoons. I can’t wait to get started!
“I Can Hug Trees Too”
Just thought I’d post this as it is something a little bit different from my usual cute and fluffy wildlife animals! I came across some cicada shells on a tree on a recent lunch time walk in Whites Hill Reserve in Brisbane and so I attempted to sketch them.. Then I realised that, yes they may not be cute and fluffy, but they do belong to the wonderful natural landscape and the order of animals called ‘Tree Huggers’ which classification covers a wide range of animals which includes koalas, possums, snakes, and nature loving humans.
Koala Cartoon Sketches
Here are the latest sketches of my koala friend at Whites Hill Reserve in Brisbane. I feel very privileged to be able to see a wild koala fairly regularly, and especially one that offers so many cartoon poses for me haha!
Have you seen any koalas recently?
With all the rain in March there has been some beautiful fungi shooting up throughout Whites Hill Reserve. Here’s a super quick lunchtime sketch of some fungi sprouting out of a log. I was really getting into some shapes and shading – I could have kept drawing it all day!
Have you seen some interesting fungi recently?
Two little happy customers!
Wahoo – earlier this year I had the pleasure of meeting two little happy customers! We were at the Wynnum Manly outdoor cinema with Hazel’s work colleague and his family and they surprised me with their two daughters wearing t-shirts with my koala designs on! Don’t they look awesomely cute?!
I was further delighted to hear that they were really looking forward to meeting the designer of their t-shirts!! I felt famous for a brief moment 🙂

Greeting Card, Notebook and Mug featuring Emu and Chook
My Easter Design this year features my cute characters Emu and Chook. Chook is feeling broody and decides to sit on emus egg. Emu responds saying he thinks the egg is his! It amuses me how my pet chooks sit on each others egg and I thought it would be funny if a chook decides to sit on a giant emu egg!
This design is available on a select three products in my online store: Greeting card, notebook and mug. To see these please click here, or to see my full range of Easter designs please click here…
Emu and Chook Easter Design Coloured In
Further to yesterdays Emu and Chook sketch here is the design coloured in with Photoshop and sized to a greeting card ready to upload in my RedBubble shop. I have added the words “I think that egg belongs to me” as the emu sees the chook is being broody with their egg and sitting on it haha!
Emu and Chook Easter Card Design Sketch
I love emus and chickens so why not combine the two? Whilst watching my pet chooks I’ve often thought they are miniature emus grazing along the garden pastures, and therefore emus are giant chickens grazing along Earth’s garden! So I have been recently drawing the two together and this image emerged for Easter this year.
Our two chickens, when broody sit on each others eggs as if they were their own, and I thought it funny if a chook decided to just on an emu egg!
